Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost? 

You will need to pay a registration fee for fall 2023 of $150 plus a $50 equipment fee. The equipment fee helps pay for bows, game day jerseys, music, competition fees and more. You can have the equipment fee waived if you fill the "Sponsor my Athlete" card.  You will also write two checks: one check for the uniform and one for volunteer/fundraising check. The uniform check will be returned or destroyed if the uniform is returned, in the condition you received them, at the end of the season. The volunteer/fundraising check will also be returned or destroyed if those hours are completed. 

What items do I need to purchase for the cheer season? 

Where and when do practices take place? 

Practices start the first week of August at Keyes Field at 5:30 p.m. The address is 127 Elm St. Around the last week of August, practice moves to Milford Middle School cafeteria at 33 Osgood Rd.

What do athletes need for practice? 

Athletes should arrive at practice with hair up, no earrings or jewelry, no pockets on shorts or ties on the side and no spaghetti strap tops. They should have their athletic or cheer shoes, plenty of water and bug spray/sunscreen (for outdoor practice). 

Does my athlete need to attend every practice? 

Yes! The first 3 weeks of summer will be conditioning. It is super important that athletes are at every practice. If you must miss a practice, please reach out to your head coach on Sports Engine. Please view the entire attendance policy of the Milford Jr. Spartans here.

What is required of parents?

Milford Jr Spartans have no employees.  Like most youth non profit programs, its 100% volunteer driven. Parents are required to volunteer and fundraise in order to make the year a successful season. Please view the volunteer and fundraising requirements. If those hours are not meet, your volunteer/fundraising check ($100) will be cash at the end of the season.

What is "competition ready"? 

Athletes should arrive at the competition site in full uniform, hair in a high ponytail, white no show socks and white cheer shoes on (with foot coverings on their shoes). Athletes are not allow to carry bags of any kind with them. Please remove any extra layers of clothing prior to your athlete entering the school.
